Kendra Johnson is Vice President, Business Strategy, Planning & Development, ABC Family, overseeing the network’s strategy, business development initiatives, international development and finance. She reports to ABC Family President Michael Riley.
In her previous role at The Walt Disney Company, Ms. Johnson served as Chief of Staff to Anne Sweeney, President, Disney/ABC Television Group and Co-chair, Disney Media Networks.
Ms. Johnson joined the Walt Disney Company in January 2005 as Manager, Business Strategy and Development for Disney/ESPN Media Networks, where she was responsible for structuring and negotiating carriage agreements for Disney Channel, ABC Family, Toon Disney, SOAPnet, the ESPN networks and mobile and broadband properties with cable, satellite and telco partners.
Prior to joining The Walt Disney Company, she was a development executive at Bridget Johnson Films, responsible for identifying and developing material. She worked on the development and production of the feature film “Ice Princess,” distributed by Walt Disney.
Ms. Johnson began her career in the entertainment industry with Miramax Films in New York and Los Angeles, where she worked in the Finance Department from 2000-2002. Prior to Miramax Films, she spent three years as an analyst at Goldman, Sachs & Co. in the Investment Banking and Asset Management divisions.
Ms. Johnson is a mentor in the Big Brothers Big Sisters / Hollywood Reporter mentorship program.
Ms. Johnson earned a BA degree from Yale University and a certificate in Film and Television Production from UCLA’s School of Theatre, Film and Television.
